Thye Hong Handmade Fishball Noodle 20 Ghim Moh Road #01-36

Ghim Moh Mkt & Food Ctr (Map) Tues, Fri – Sun: 6am – 11am

Mon, Wed, Thu

This little fishball noodle stall is a favourite of Ghim Moh old timers as witnessed by the daily long queues. Old Uncle Wee is a well-loved hawker icon and has been here since the hawker centre opened in 1978. When you bite into his fishballs, there’s a sense of deja vu, especially if you are a fan of Ru Ji Kitchen. Uncle Wee is the elder brother of David who runs the famous Ru Ji fishball noodle stall at Holland Drive Hawker Centre. Thye Hong's version of handmade yellowtail fishballs, are soft and springy. You will be able to taste fresh fish sweetness with a touch of brine. Uncle's fish cakes which he cuts in thick, floppy slices are slightly more intense in flavour. The noodles are simple – just mee kia or mee pok tossed in a sauce heavy with lard, soy sauce and sambal. Better hurry as uncle Wee who is already nearly 70, works alone and does not have a successor.
