Mad Roaster

7 Maxwell Rd, #02-107 Amoy Street Food Centre (Map) Mon-Fri: 8am – 3pm Sun Sat: 9am – 3pm

Ex socially conscious legal eagle turn kopi hawker with an edge. Madeline Chan set this up and gave this old hawker coffee and toast stall a fab twist but yet lost nothing in translation. Her brioche kaya toast with salted butter is a song in the mouth. It's fluffy, airy light and everything so gently crispy and the slowly melting butter melded so well with her kaya it makes you do a double take. This traditional set comes with "flower imprint" coffee and 2 comforting and runny 64° eggs. They also offer your $4 percolated coffee as well as local kopi and teh. That chocolate brioche (fluffly thick light crispy with crunchy chocolate bits layered atop) is no pushover nor is their butter honey scones. Those coffee cup stickers are hand painted by refugees in Thailand and she pays them 50¢ for every sticker done.. Bless them all.
