Chiew Kee Chicken Noodle House 32 Upper Cross St (Map)
http://www.chiewkee.com/ 8am –8pm Daily Alt Mon
There are two similar-sounding stalls along this stretch of the road. Both are of the same heritage and arguably one of the first families of this HK-style soy braised chicken noodles. The founder had passed on and the two siblings (brother here, and sister up the road) now continue the legacy albeit both have a wistfully different recipe. The presentation here looks a tad better because of the knife skills. Their soy braise is gentler and lighter than the sister’s and the noodle is equally springy and “QQ”, a joy to the bite. Again, to get the full meal experience, have an extra side order of sui kao dumplings and blanched greens.
