The Nasi Jenganan has plain rice spiced with that same sambal plus a spicy peanut sauce (that’s two spicy thugs on a rice meal) a bergadil, beef lung, fried chicken , and serondeng.. a truly Indonesian feast on a plate. Prices are reasonable and their regulars are largely hardcore fussy Muslim foodies. A good sign, we say.

All their ingredients are piled up high and up to 5 people cramp into that little stall to deliver a variety of Muslim-style popular classics. But two of our favourites are the Nasi Jeranan and Nasi Sambal Goreng (if you tire of the same ol’ nasi lemak, which they offer too). They topped the Nasi Jeranan ($5.50) with a generous serving of cured soft sambal cuttlefish, potato begedil, sambal goreng, and crunchy bean sprouts that sit under a ladle of satay peanut sauce. The sambal has sweetish tones and is very easy to like. The Nasi Sambal Goreng is basically similar except they use a fried chicken wing, achar, sambal goreng and fried spicy crunchy tempeh.

They really offer both nasi padang and nasi Melayu with a blend of traditional Padang fare like rendang and sambal goreng and Melayu dishes like sambal fish cakes, sausages, clams and even greens like broccoli. They pack them in everyday because the prices are very reasonable, and the dishes are executed diligently. One Melayu style dish that stood out
