Janathul Firthous Shenton Way Power Stall 503 W Coast Dr, #01-55 Ayer Rajah Food Ctr (Map) 8.30am to 11pm
This hawker centre is famous for the classic Singapore Indian style Nasi Goreng and Mee Goreng stalls. A few of them here once ruled at the defunct Shenton Way hawker stalls by the old YMCA near the port. They were the keepers of that cuisine faith. Many Indian and Muslim port workers loaded up before and after work at these stalls. The white nasi goreng ikan bilis (fried anchovies) is very well-fried, laden with wok hei (breath of the wok) and nary oily. The savoury element is present and the kicker comes with the puffs of white pepper in the roasty rice. The little cubes and slices of cucumber and green chilies with tomato paste is so appropriate and authentic.
