Gu Zao Rojak
Blk 347 Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 #01-2150 (Map) 11.30am - 9pm Wed
It's the freshness of his ingredients and how well Mr Goh slices those vegetables, fruits and tubers that get you, beside the main attraction – the sauce. It’s the bold balance of hae ko (he is fussy about the supply and where it comes from) with assam juice, sugar, peanuts, lime juice and chilli paste. I am quite sure he adds other stuff into that secret hae ko (sweet prawn paste). He takes the trouble to toast the yu tiao fritters so you get the crispy, crunchy and crackly goodness of the ingredients. One other edge – his prices are very reasonable, almost Gu Zao (old-school) rates.
