They are getting more popular by the day. There's always a crowd outside the takeaway- only cake shop. They offer swiss roll style cakes with local twists. The cake is just soft enough and has a pleasant gumminess about it. The signature kaya version is very easy to like as it has a pleasant pandan aroma and sweetness infused with the cake. The durian version is next, it's not so pungent (though many like it that way) and lightly tempered, but it does scream "durian" upon first bite. They also have cream cheese, mango, chocolate, and even mandarin orange renditions.

The love of any good sugee cake really about the generous amount of chopped almonds in this buttery cake, moisture and the brandy infused flavour. Rosalind and her hubby Michael are early retirees who love to potter about in the kitchen. This version hits all the right angles – the butter (a lot of it) is a "good grade type" and you can still taste the moisture and smoothness after 3 days in the fridge. Just imagine eating it fresh after collecting from their home kitchen. The nutty almond goodness, bless them, is evident and abundant in every bite and they have an edge not commonly found in many commercial bakers offering this – the wistful touch of cardamom in the cake and the faint splash of brandy lends some addictiveness to it. They can also dress up the cake with elaborate marzipan, even with Nonya motifs. It takes theirs to another level. Just add tea or coffee to complete this tea break snack.
