They are an old school Hokkien style ngoh hiang specialist that had gone happily and quietly undetected in foodie quarters for so many years. They hail from the streets of the Golden Shoe area decades ago and now roost here. No more than 14 items are offered daily and they won't garner second glances, from the tofu, fish balls, cured pink cuttlefish, century egg, crispy prawn fritters to the tofu skin rolls. All done on-point and most are hand made including their popular pink pork sausage (hardly anyone does this by hand these days). It tastes so home made, sans the commercial "perfection" that many stalls get from central kitchens. The star item is the made-upon-order fried prawn cakes or xia bing with bits of bean sprouts and prawns clinging on to the crispy yet doughy soft insides of the fritter. They also hand make a mean fried lard egg cake. These things over their blue ginger infused chilli are a stinger for lunch (with beehoon) or peckish bites.
