Nain Food Stall
Blk 49 Sims Place #01-07, Sims Vista Mkt & Food Ctr (Map) 7am – 7pm Daily
It’s not quite nasi padang and you can tell by the “point - point” dishes on display, like fried chicken, assam fish, stir fried bean sprouts and even rempeyek (crispy crackers). But the star dish here is the fried ikan selar or mackerel. If you get them freshly done off the whole wok of oil, ask them to dip the full fish into the pot of sambal and place it over the rice. They do it sometimes (when they are not busy) but just smear the sambal over it yourself. The trick is to put on the best and most sincere smile and ask away! That sambal covered fish is enchantingly sexy all on its own. All other side dishes you order become side shows to this main act. The sambal is spicy with sweet notes much like good nasi lemak type (not found in nasi padang stalls). Go early, as things may go limp towards the later afternoon.
