These folks have a heart, they gave a homeless person (who was out on an experiment on compassion) a free meal without question in December ’20. We are sure there are many such good-hearted hawkers around who practice compassion quietly. But we are here for the nasi lemak. They use a steam (kukus) method that yields a softer, luscious and loose texture, with no compromise on rich coconutty flavour and aroma. The sambal is signature Singapore loved version – smooth, sweetish, savoury with hints of tamarind and belacan (fermented shrimp cake). Their fried little mackerels are extremely crispy and refreshing to the bite. Go early, ideally for breakfast as those masalas and rempah laced fried chicken come fresh and crispy. Of course, add the white bait and peanuts to complete the meal. You can also tuck into their range of sweets, like lopez, kueh keria and even some morning curry puffs if you like.
